¿HowTo? Connect your laptop or PC with TV

First Step:

Know which plug in does your laptop/ PC suports. There are four kind of plug-ins VGA, S-Video, DVI & HDMI [ HD ]. Look for these ports in your laptop/ PC.

Second Step

Choose your cable which your laptop/ PC supports.

Types of Cables:

VGA to RCA cable -This cable has VGA male port in one end to be plugged in your laptop and RCA male port to be connected in your TV. [ CRT / HD ]

VGA to S-Video- Your TV must support S-Video Plug-in.

S-Video to RCA cable- This cable has S-Video male port in one end to be plugged in your laptop and RCA male port to be connected in your TV. [ CRT/ HD ]
S-Video cable- This is special cable with S-video port at both ends. All Laptops and TVs may not support this cable. [ CRT / HD ]
VGA cable- This is usually used in LCD TV/Monitor or projector. Look for VGA port in both laptop and TV.
HDMI to HDMI- This cable is for HD TV and laptop that supports HD. Make sure your laptop has HDMI port.
DVI to HDMI- Make sure you have DVI port on Laptop and HDMI [HD] port on TV or Vice-versa.

Third Step

After choosing the cable, connect it with your laptop and TV. These cables does not transmit sound. So you might require additional mini-jack to transmit sound or you can simply connect speaker or sound system with your laptop.

** S-Video to 3 RCA cable, can transmit both Audio and Video to your TV.

Mostly HDTV/ Digital TV supports all types of cables. But it is preferred to use HDMI cables. For CRT TV/ Normal TV VGA or S-video cables, but make sure your tv supports it.

Fourth Step

Switch your TV to AV or INPUT mode. Some TV/ Monitors might be required to switch to VGA mode.

Final Step

You should be able to view your screen in TV by now.

For MAC, Go to apple system preference and select Detect Displays to detect the connection to TV.

If you want to turn off your laptop screen, press Fn button [ usually located in between cntrll and window or alt ] and F4. This will turn down your laptop to black. Toggle it twice if it did not work.

To change the screen resolution, you can simply Right Click on your screen > Click on Properties > Select Settings > and change your settings. [ Note: If you did not turned off the screen of your laptop, there might be montior 1 & monitor 2 for your laptop screen and TV respectively.]

You should be able to connect your laptop with TV right now. If you are done you can simply remove the wire and your laptop should be normal again.
